Happy New Year!

Wow - I realized today that it had been almost a year since I had blogged.  I've been taking photos, just not blogging too much.

Time to correct that.

Happy New Year!

My family!

Snow Bug

I had a wonderful afternoon today meeting "Bug" and her family!  It was a snowy afternoon, but that didn't stop us from getting some fun family holiday shots.  We started traditionally by the Christmas tree and ended up outside!  Thank you to the most fabulous grandma ever for holding an umbrella over me as I shot so that we could get a few snow pictures without too much moisture getting on the ole Canon ;)

Merry Christmas!

An Old Pro

This summer I had the pleasure of photographing my friend Amy's gorgeous family.  Today I got to meet their cousins Jimmy, Kym and Taylor.

We had such a fun morning!  Taylor's mom Kym also does photography so Taylor is an old pro in front of the camera!  She was so sweet and good-natured and I enjoyed meeting this terrific trio!  At just 15 months old, she is perfecting the art of walking and everything is a new adventure.  All the grownups helped keep her entertained by singing "Happy Birthday" over and over!  It's her favorite song these days and who can blame her??  Last time she heard it she got to EAT CAKE!!!

Another bonus for this family?  They are Browns Fans!  Yay!!  I was a little concerned as I traveled East on 76 that I might be entering Steelers territory, but my worries were put to rest as soon as I saw all the brown and orange jerseys come out.

Theatre Families....A Special Breed

Theatre and artsy people are different.  We just are.  There's no question.  We do things that other people just don't understand.  I could list so many examples but sometimes it's just better for pictures to tell a story.

Meet Lisa, Tim, Emily, Molly, Christian and Eric.  This is one incredible family.  Lisa and I met many moons ago singing in temple choir for high holidays.  We realized we had a lot in common and both enjoyed doing theatre!  Then one night we went out for karaoke and I got to meet her husband Tim.  I learned that he too, was a fun theatre person and totally fun!

Finally I got to meet their four incredible kids yesterday.  They were SO. MUCH. FUN.  There was nothing hard about this session.  This entire group was willing to do and try almost anything - I think they came up with more ideas than I could.  I was just trying to keep up!!!

When I asked Lisa what the important shots were to capture, she had no hesitation.  Her oldest Emily is off to college next year and so getting family shots of all 6 of them was the number one priority.  I figured we'd do those, portraits of each of the kids, the siblings together, etc.  Then I asked her if getting a picture of her and Tim was on the top of her list.  She told me that they hadn't had a nice picture taken together since their wedding and they celebrated 20 years of marriage this past spring!!  That went high up on my priority list ASAP!  Lisa and Tim are incredible parents.  They have given of themselves in ways that are unimaginable and are some of the most selfless and loving people I've had the pleasure to meet.  They've given when it was easy and given when it was incredibly hard.  After hanging out with their family yesterday, it's easy to see that they've passed those qualities along to the next generation.  Emily, Molly, Christian and Eric were SO polite, so fun and their laughter was contagious.  Most importantly, it was easy to see the bond of FRIENDSHIP amongst all four of them that will last for a lifetime.

And now for the story......  We started off so nicely, so normal.....AND THEN.....

30 Inspirational Years

I first met Tim and Kathy back in 1999 when I auditioned for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Hudson Players.  I had just moved back to Northest Ohio after college and I didn't know a soul in Summit county.  I figured that joining a community theatre would be a good place to make new friends.

14 years later, I have made some of the best friends of my life.  Tim and Kathy are an amazing couple.  I recall always thinking, "Those two are really what marriage is all about"  They have a lot of similar interests but also give one another the freedom to do their own things.  When they are together you can see the love between them.  Tim might have his hand on Kathy's shoulder, they might snuggle up to one another, and they definitely share lots of laughs.

Their 30th wedding anniversary was this past Tuesday.  Thank you to both of you for being an incredible inspiration to some of us "newley-er wed" couples.  Watching the two of you together is truly special.  Happy anniversary to two beautiful people.  Love you guys!  It was truly an HONOR to help you capture this milestone.

Hot Rods, Baby!

I can't believe that it's been two years since I photographed this adorable family.  In 2011 Jen, Mike, Nick and Abby and I went to downtown Kent and captured some great family memories.

Now, two years later we added some grandparents and cousins into the mix at their house and had a great day!  Thanks to all of them for being such good sports about the cooler temperatures.  At least it wasn't snowing!

Nick has gotten so incredibly grown up!

Yup, this would be the TRUE Nick and Abby

Mike, you're going to need to threaten a lot of young men in about 5-6 years I think!!

Hands down my favorite photo of the day.  This is PURE LOVE.

HOT ROD!!!!

Mike with his pride and joy!

All the cousins

The whole gang
