Rescued RAW - A Fresh Perspective

When I take photos, I usually only keep about 20% of what I shoot.  That means that if I'm outside with the kids shooting randomly as they are playing and I happen to click the shutter button 70 times, I'm usually keeping 14 or less of those pictures.  The rest just sit in my RAW folder on my computer in a data wasteland.

The other day, just for kicks, I started going through the RAW files from August and I came across this image:

I sat there wondering, "Why in the heck didn't I keep this photo as a proof??? I love everything about it!"

It got me wondering....What other gems might be hiding?  I don't typically backup my RAW files monthly - just all the proofs that I deem worthy of keeping.

So I went back to January of this year and found 10 photos that I missed when proofing.  There are still things about all 10 of these that bug me from a technical aspect (which is probably why I didn't keep them in the first place!?), but I love the RAW emotion or composition in all of them (pun intended)

So.....without further ado - rescued RAW from 2012.  Nothing technically perfect - and some are REALLY imperfect....but I love them nonetheless for various reasons.

January 2012 - Playing around with Daddy

I have no idea what we were laughing about, but I love our faces here

Hudson Players Las Vegas Trip 2012 - from the Sunset Horseback Ride

Watering their "food"

Hunting and Gathering

Just playing with a stick

From the Easter Egg Hunt with their cousins this past April.  I love how her floral jacket is central in this composition amongst all the chaos
Love her eyelashes

Ok technically this picture is horrible.  But the image itself?  OMG.  I think it might be my favorite ever of the two of them.

From her 3rd birthday photo shoot.  There were SO many great ones, but I overlooked the true 3 year old innocence she has in this one
